So you know what's great about Geelong College? Not a whole lot, but their logo sure is pretty spiffy. Behold, folks, a vertically stretched oval containing a lion, a ship, and a Latin motto - what more could you possibly want?

Now I know what you're thinking - why bother with an education when you could just have this logo tattooed on your forehead instead? Well, don't go booking that appointment with your local ink artist just yet, because apparently Geelong College is also a school of some sort. Shocking, I know.

I came across this gem of a tweet during my extensive research (read: quick Google search) and let me tell you, it absolutely blew my mind. Apparently Geelong College isn't the only school in the area, and they occasionally engage in sporting events against each other. In this particular instance, Geelong Grammar had a victory over our beloved College. But hey, at least we have that logo to fall back on.

Apparently Geelong College is also known for "creating leadership for life". Say what now? I don't know about you, but I don't think my leadership skills were particularly honed during my high school years. Heck, the only thing I learned during those four years was how to perfect the art of procrastination. But hey, I guess if you send your kids to Geelong College they'll come out fully equipped to lead entire nations. Or at least lead their group projects in college without wanting to strangle their group mates.

But wait, there's more! In a shocking turn of events, it turns out that not everything at Geelong College is rainbows and sunshine. In fact, one of their very own teachers was recently convicted of grooming and abusing students. Yikes. I guess that leadership training didn't quite stick for this guy.
All jokes aside, any kind of abuse is completely unacceptable and I sincerely hope that the victims are able to find healing and justice. It's important to remember that behind all the logos and grand statements, there are real people whose lives are impacted by what goes on at institutions like Geelong College.
In conclusion, Geelong College may have a pretty logo and some lofty ideals, but it's important to also recognize the reality of what goes on there. And for anyone considering getting that logo tattooed on their forehead, please reconsider. Your future job prospects will thank you.
